ConsultLine - Is a toll free help line for your special education questions and concerns. ConsultLine advisors will answer your questions and provide information about special education programs and the laws governing these programs for parents of and advocates for children with disabilities, or those who are thought to be disabled.

DRN - Disability Rights Network of Pennsylvania (DRN) is a statewide, non–profit corporation designated as the federally–mandated organization to advance and protect the civil rights of adults and children with disabilities. DRN works with people with disabilities and their families to ensure their rights to live in their communities with the services they need, to receive a full and inclusive education, to live free of discrimination, abuse and neglect, and to have control and self–determination over their services.  

DOT - The U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) has established a toll-free hotline to assist air travelers with disabilities.  The hotline will provide general information to consumers about the rights of air travelers with disabilities, respond to requests for printed consumer information, and assist air travelers with time-sensitive disability-related issues that need to be addressed in “real time.”    The line is staffed from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. Eastern time, seven days a week.   Air travelers who experience disability-related air travel service problems may call the hotline at 1-800-778-4838 (voice) or 1-800-455-9880 (TTY) to obtain assistance.

Heart 2 Heart - Heart 2 Heart is an alliance of parents and professionals in Western Pennsylvania intent on affecting their communities for the benefit of families and children experiencing the effects of behavioral and mental health disabilities.  We work diligently to bring healing through education, advocacy, support, resources and training with a specialization in the adoptive and foster family dynamic.

ICDR - Interagency Committee on Disability Research - The Interagency Committee on Disability Research  facilitates the effective exchange of information on disability and rehabilitation research activities among its 70-plus member agencies. We coordinate activities that span the areas of assistive technology and universal design; medical rehabilitation; data and statistics; employment; and community participation.

MHAPA - The Mental Health Association in PA, which reflects the ethnic and cultural diversity of the Commonwealth, works on behalf of mental health through advocacy, education, and public policy.

NAMI PA - Founded in 1983, NAMI PA ( National Alliance on Mental Illness of Pennsylvania)  is the largest statewide non-profit organization dedicated to helping mental health consumers and their families rebuild their lives and conquer the challenges posed by severe and persistent mental illness.

NCLD - The National Center for Learning Disabilities is an online guide to essential information about learning disabilities, early literacy and learning resources, support for adolescents and adults with learning disabilities, public policy and advocacy tools. 

The National Center of Medical Home Initiatives for Children with Special Needs - Provides support to physicians, families, and other medical and non-medical providers who care for children with special needs so that they have access to a medical home.

NICHCY  - National Information Center for Children and Youth with Disabilities - National information and referral center focusing on ages birth to 22.  

NIDRR - New National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research - Provides leadership and support for a comprehensive program of research related to the rehabilitation of individuals with disabilities.  All programmatic efforts are aimed at improving the lives of individuals with disabilities from birth through adulthood.

ODR - Provides the resources for parents and educational agencies to resolve disputes concerning the identification, evaluation, educational placement, or the provision of a free appropriate public education for students with disabilities, students who are gifted and children with disabilities served by the early intervention system.

OSERS - New Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services - Is committed to improving results and outcomes for people with disabilities of all ages.  OSERS provides a wide array of supports to parents and individuals, school districts, and states in three main areas:  special education, vocational rehabilitation, and research.

OVR - The Office of Vocational Rehabilitation.  The goal of the OVR is to assist Pennsylvanians with disabilities to secureand maintain employment and independence.

PaTTAN - The Pennsylvania Training and Technical Assistance Network is an initiative of the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Bureau of Special Education. PaTTAN supports the Department of Education's efforts to lead and serve the educational community by offering professional development that builds the capacity of local educational agencies to meet students' needs. PaTTAN's primary focus is special education. However, services are also provided to support Early Intervention, student assessment, tutoring and other partnership efforts, all designed to help students succeed.
