Most programs are a full day workshop. If your group meets in the evening or half day only, you may use these workshops in two sessions.

The Laws

and Regulations

Chapter 14 - The Right to Special Education in Pennsylvania (full day workshop)


This workshop will inform you to special rights the law provides; how to request an evaluation and timelines; the right to disagree with school officials; special protections in school discipline and other important special education rights.

What is Section 504? (half or full day workshop)


What is Section 504, what does it mean? Who is eligible? Comparison of important provisions of IDEA and Section 504.

Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) Workshop for Families (full day workshop)

This workshop explains the federal regulations for IDEA.


Issues and Concerns

Effective Communications—Making It Work (half or full day workshop)

Developing positive relationships with families and schools. Receiving and sending messages. (This workshop can be combined with ‘What is Advocacy?’ for two half day workshops.)

What is Advocacy? (half or full day workshop)

Positive approaches to advocacy while taking the critical step between concern and action. (This workshop can be combined with ‘Effective Communications—Making It Work’ for two half day workshops.)

Writing Goals and Objectives (half day workshop)

Understanding and writing goals and objectives for the IEP.

Blueprint for Parent Support (half or full day workshop)

Starting and maintaining a support group; obtaining resources one-on-one support; and tailoring group needs to the community.

Parent Leadership Development—Building Strong Voices for Children (1 full day or 2 full days workshop)

Involving parents and other families members in all aspects of planning, delivering, and evaluating early care and intervention services. The training will provide you the opportunity to consider various leadership roles and skills.

Dealing with Conflict and Confrontation (1 full day or 2 full day workshop)

How to keep your cool, stand your ground and reach a positive solution.

Early Intervention (half day workshop)

Birth to three years of age
Three years to 5 years of age.
